"Ambassador."

"Captain."

They pass each other in the corridor. She braces against the ceiling, watching the pair maneuver, one heading to the bridge, the other to her shuttle. The tension is palpable.

There were some things that were obvious, even on her bad days. The innocent affection Kaylee showed her brother. The way Jayne tiptoed around her, hoping she couldn't understand what he had done. The loving exasperation Zoe felt for her husband. The obvious attraction between the Captain and the Companion.

She waits until the pair exits the corridor before dropping to the floor. Today was a shiny day.
