Oh dear...

I just got a call from Citibank. Apparently, someone got ahold of my credit card number and charged over $2000 at a travel agency, with another $1300 charge elsewhere. Needless to say, I did not authorize these charges and this account will be closed.
WTF. I am fairly troubled by the fact that this is the card I keep for "backup" purposes--most of my charges are done with a different card. In fact, aside from a few automatic recurring charges (like my Blockbuster and my webhosting monthly fees), the last time I actually physically used the card was back in June, when I was in Europe. And yes, the card is still in my wallet.
I am just very glad that the credit card company caught these charges, or I would have been very confused and/or terrified when I checked my statement next month.
